Name ~ Severus Tobias Snape
Nickname ~ Snivellus (taunt), The Half-Blood Prince (self-given), Snape, Sev (only Lily, but she hasn't talked to him in nearly a year)
House ~ Slytherin
Parents ~ Eileen Prince (witch) and Tobias Snape (muggle)
Birthday ~ January 11, 1960
Siblings ~ None
Pets ~ None
Looks ~ Severus is, unfortunately, highly unnatractive in everyone's books. He struggles with acne, and his skin is oily and revolting, pale and sallow. He has a rather stringy look about him, like a plant kept in the dark (as Harry Potter put it). His eyes are black and usually unfathomable. His hair is black too, greasy, and it comes down to his shoulders, framing his thin face. One of his defining features is his oversized, hooked nose. He has no interesting scars or birthmarks to speak of. Whenever possible, he now avoids muggle clothes, as the only ones he has are horrible. Before he came to Hogwarts he wore muggle clothes astoundingly mismatched and plain. An shabby oversized coat, too-short jeans, an odd smock-like shirt, anything he could scrounge.
Personality ~ Severus is no longer a whiny tattletale. He used to be filled with idealistic notions of happiness, and he used to whine pathetically to anyone who would listen. The years have hardened him, and he's not a nice person. He's be cruel and sarcastic, and he's starting to develop a sadistic streak. No longer does he believe in justice. Life isn't fair, and it's not like anyone has ever bothered to be fair to him. Self-pity is no longer on the cards, however, so he's learnt to suck it up and use whatever underhand tactics are necessary to get what he desires. He knows more curses than the majority of the school population put together, particularly because he's started creating his own nasty ones. He's also an exceptional brewer, and adjusts the potions he knows to suit his needs. He's also capable of creating his own. He's learnt to control his temper, and it now only rears its ugly head occasionally, when Potter and Black are being particularly foul. Gut-wrenching pain and hurt lie beneath the surface, but he's buried them deep and locked them away.
History ~ Severus was born to Eileen, a half-blood witch, and Tobias, a muggle. At first, he loved and admired his mother. His father, he simply didn't mind. Soon, however, he came to notice the abuse Tobias inflicted on Eileen, verbal, emotional and sometimes physical. Arguments started to break out like the plague. His father didn't like magic. His father didn't like much of anything. His love of his mother started to fade as she, like his father, started neglecting him more and more. They were both too focused on their own struggles to register that there was a hurting child in their care. His father ignored him completely unless he wanted to hit him. Severus started spending longer and longer periods of time out of his house. He explored his dirty, uncared for neighbourhood. Spinner's End, next to the rubbish-filled river, was not a pleasant place. The poor and the desperate dwelled there, unlike at the nearby neighbourhood where the Evans lived. He watched Lily secretly. She was the best part of his whole miserable existence. She was beautiful and clever, up to her ears in magic. When he first revealed himself to her and her sister, it ended in humiliation for him, but eventually she understood and they became friends. He told her all about her powers and about Hogwarts, the school they'd both eventually go to.
On the train, Lily sat in a compartment with the Marauders, although they'd only just met and they weren't called that at the time. He followed her in and they talked quietly, as if there was a divide between them and the others they shared a compartment with. That didn't last forever, and Lily led him off in a huff after they taunted Severus and christened him 'Snivellus'. That was the start of their emnity. At the Sorting Ceremony, Lily was sorted into Gryffindor and Severus into Slytherin. Perhaps that was the start of the end of their friendship. As the years passed, Severus was continually tormented and humiliated by the Marauders. He hated them with an intense passion. He used every opportunity to curse them with the incredible variety of curses he knew, but they always won in the end. His like of Lily turned to love, and bitterness started to grow in his heart when he saw Potter, the Golden Boy, try to flirt with Lily. In his third year he befriended a group of Dark-Arts obsessed Slytherins. Despite his extensive magical talents, it took them a while to come 'round and accept him, however grudgingly, as part of their group. They never understood why he continued to be bested by the likes of Potter and Black. Severus never understood that either. Surely he was at least equal to them in magical power? However, at the thought of potential humiliation, he always panicked and lost his head. Then Lily, for once and for all, ended their friendship. He cried endlessly, then his heart hardened. She was dead to him, no matter the extent of his love for her. He told himself that he'd forgotten her, although he could never really convince himself. He'd chosen a path of darkness. Him and his group of fellow Slytherins spent even more time on curses. They wanted to be part of the ultimate movement. The Dark Lord and his Death Eaters. Is that where Severus is headed? If he can't have Lily at least he can have the power he desires.

Dementor (worst memory) ~ Severus had many bad memories, but the worst was the night Lily ended their dying friendship. Her dislike, her lack of pity, and the contemptuous stare on her face when she left him.
Boggart (fears) ~ He sees Lily on the floor, writhing in pain. He sees himself try to raise his wand, but he can't cast a single spell to help her. He sees the faces of everyone he knows, looking at him in disgust. "You're nothing," they say. "A waste of space."
AND
He sees Lily on the floor, writhing in pain. He sees himself with his wand raised, and realises that he is the one casting Crucio on the girl he loves. He tries to scream, and his other self turns to him. "Isn't this what you wanted, Severus? She's just a mudblood, after all..."
Patronus (happiest memory) ~ The moment when he got his letter and realised that he would be leaving his miserable home life behind and going on a journey alone with Lily, the light of his life. His patronus recently changed to a doe, the same as Lily's.

He stared at the now shut portrait door. That was it. That was the end. He was hardly even aware of the tears flowing freely down his face. Being abandoned by her had hardly been difficult to predict, of course. Their friendship had been steadily tearing apart for a fair while now, but he'd been trying to forget the inevitable. If he didn't think about it, it couldn't happen. Ha. Funny how one word could change so much. One word uttered in a blinding moment of humiliation and anger. One word to destroy a friendship. One word to break a heart. One word to change the course of at least three lives.
Gone was the snot-nosed whiny child who wore his heart on his sleeve and complained that this, that and everything weren't fair. In his place stood a young man who had learnt the hard way that life wasn't fair. A young man who would always hide his emotions, who would try desperately to forget he'd ever had a heart. A young man who was determined to bury his pain under a mountain of anger. The Dark Arts, foul play, any mean to achieve his end was now viable. He wanted revenge. He wanted power. This was the new Severus.
